Straight cutting oils are a member of the cutting fluids family. The other is waterbase fluids.
Straight oil cutting fluids is usually relatively simple when compared to the chemistry of waterbase fluids. However, straight oils has their own complex issues in formulation and application. They are usually blends of mineral oil and other additives. Even the source of the mineral oil is a factor in developing an effective fluid. There are ingredients which affect viscosity, oxidation, skin sensitivity, negative interaction with machines' components, filterability, and color.
Viscosity has a huge influence on cooling and lubrication. Straight oils are usually selected when lubrication is a larger factor than cooling. Filterability is also influence by viscosity.
Harrigan Solutions knows the characteristics of straight oils and has the experience in handling and cleaning them. We supply engineering guidance on the selection of equipment and also provide the equipment which is needed for the system. Equipment can be purchased or rented. In a number of cases used equipment could be available. Harrigan Solutions also can service the equipment on a routine or on call agreement.
