Decanter Centrifuge, also known as Horizontal screw centrifuge, is a highly efficient centrifugal separation equipment widely used in the field of wastewater treatment. It uses centrifugal force to achieve solid-liquid separation, which is of great significance for improving wastewater treatment efficiency and water purification.
Working Principle
The working principle of the horizontal screw centrifuge is based on the action of centrifugal force. In the equipment, the drum and the screw rotate at high speed in the same direction with a certain differential speed. Wastewater is continuously introduced into the inner cylinder of the feeding screw through the feed pipe and is subjected to strong centrifugal force in the high-speed rotating drum. This centrifugal force can reach hundreds or even thousands of times the gravity, causing the solid particles in the wastewater to be thrown to the drum wall to form a sediment layer. Subsequently, the feeding screw continuously pushes the deposited solid phase to the conical end of the drum and discharges it out of the machine through the slag discharge port. The lighter liquid phase forms an inner liquid ring and continuously overflows from the overflow port at the large end of the drum, thereby achieving solid-liquid separation.
Application advantages
1. Efficient dehydration: The decanter centrifuge can significantly reduce the water content of sludge. For example, for activated sludge, after being treated by the decanter centrifuge, the water content of the sludge can be reduced from about 99% to 75%~85%. This greatly reduces the volume of sludge, reduces transportation costs and subsequent disposal costs.
2. Continuous operation: The decanter centrifuge can continuously receive and treat sludge in wastewater, adapt to the continuous process of sludge generation in sewage treatment plants, ensure the continuity of sludge dehydration, and improve the overall operation efficiency.
3. High degree of automation: The decanter centrifuge is equipped with a good automatic control system, which can automatically adjust the equipment’s speed, differential speed and other operating parameters according to factors such as the flow rate and properties of the sludge to ensure a stable dehydration effect.
4. Wide range of application: The decanter centrifuge is suitable for treating sludge of different concentrations and properties, including residual sludge and primary sludge generated by municipal sewage treatment plants, as well as sludge containing complex components such as heavy metals and organic matter generated by industrial sewage treatment plants.
Application in wastewater treatment
In wastewater treatment, the decanter centrifuge is mainly used for sludge dehydration, and can also be used for the removal of suspended matter.
1. Sludge dehydration: The decanter centrifuge can efficiently dehydrate the sludge generated in the process of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, reduce the sludge moisture content, and provide suitable conditions for subsequent sludge disposal (such as landfill, incineration, etc.).
2. Suspended matter removal: For wastewater containing suspended matter, the decanter centrifuge can also achieve efficient separation. In particular, for suspended matter with a particle size greater than a few microns, the separation effect of the decanter centrifuge is particularly significant. This enables it to effectively remove sludge containing a large amount of dyes and auxiliaries in some industrial wastewater treatment plants, such as printing and dyeing wastewater treatment plants, and provide favorable conditions for subsequent wastewater treatment.
