3 Phase Sludge Dewatering Decanter Centrifugal Introduction
Explore our wide selection of DECANTER sizes for the efficient and continuous separation of solids from liquids. Our centrifuge is perfect for thickening and dewatering sludge, suspensions with granular solids, and clarifying liquids, as well as separating Calcium citrate and Quartz stone powder.
WHAT IS CENTRIFUGE DECANTER
If you have a need to separate high solids content mixtures of solid and liquid, a decanter centrifuge is a great option. Unlike chamber filter presses, these solid vortex centrifuges or decanter centrifuges work non-stop and use high centrifugal forces to separate suspended solid particles.
Our decanter centrifuges have a versatile, modular design that makes them suitable for a variety of industries. With customizable adjustments, these centrifuges can be optimized for specific applications such as sludge dewatering, classification, wet classification, and solid classification.
HOW DOES DECANTER CENTRIFUGE WORK
The decanter centrifuge uses an inlet to pump feed product into its horizontal bowl, which then rotates. This bowl is comprised of both a cylindrical and conical portion, with the separation of solids occurring in the cylindrical section. With a fast rotation speed, centrifugal forces up to 4000 x g are created, causing solid particles of higher density to collect and compact against the wall of the bowl. Inside the bowl, the scroll (also known as a screw conveyor) rotates at a slightly different speed, known as the differential speed, to convey the particles along the cylindrical portion and towards the conical end. At the smallest end of the conical portion, dehydrated solids are discharged while the clarified liquid exits through the internal centrifugal pump.
Using a 3 phase decanter centrifuge, you can effectively separate three phases in just one step. This is especially useful for separating two immiscible liquids, such as oil and water, from a solid phase. The heavier liquid (water) will collect in the center between the oil and solids layers, allowing for easy removal of the two separated liquids. The solids are then discharged through the scroll in the same manner as in 2-phase separation.
Some common uses of 3-phase separation include producing edible oils like olive oil, processing oil sludge, and creating biodiesel.

- Mineral oil, waste oil, bilge sludge, lubricating oil.
- Vinasse dewatering
- Beverages (beer, wine, fruit)
Decanter Centrifugal Structure
The machine is designed to continuously feed, separate, dehydrate, and discharge with constant full-speed operation. The drum and spiral feeder both rotate in the same direction, but with a slight difference in speed. The material is guided into the inner cylinder of the feeding spiral through a feeding pipe and, after picking up speed, enters the drum. Due to the centrifugal force field, heavier solid-phase materials collect on the drum wall to form a residue layer. The spiral feeder continuously pushes the solid-phase residue to the conic end of the drum, where it is dehydrated in the drying area and then expelled from the machine.
