How it works
Centrifugal separator for separating suspension components by centrifugal sedimentation.
The suspension added to the bowl forms a cyclic liquid layer under centrifugal force, and the solid particles in it settle onto the drum wall to form sediment. The clear liquid is discharged through the overflow port of the bowl or pipette, which is called the separating liquid. At the end of separation, the sediment is discharged manually or mechanically.
In the process of sedimentation to the drum wall, the solid particles also move axially with the liquid flow, and when the feed volume is too large, they flow to the overflow port with the liquid, while the fine particles that have not yet settled to the drum wall are discharged from the drum with the separating liquid, making the separator turbid.
For the difficult-to-separate suspension with small solid-liquid phase density, small solid particles or large liquid viscosity, a sedimentation centrifuge with a high separation factor should be selected to prolong the residence time of the suspension in the bowl (such as reducing the feed amount or using a long bowl, etc.) to ensure the clarity of the separation liquid.
The sedimentation centrifuge has a wide range of uses, especially for the separation of suspension in centrifugal filtration when the filtration resistance is too large due to the easy blockage of solid particles and the filtration resistance is too large or when the fine particles are leaked too much, but the moisture content of the sediment is high.
The sedimentation centrifuge can be used for crystallization, separation of chemical sediments, coal dust and other suspensions, dewatering of various sewage sludge, and slag removal and clarification of animal and vegetable oils
