Working Principle of a Decanter Centrifuge
A decanter centrifuge, also known as a spiral centrifuge, consists of a high-speed rotating drum and a screw conveyor. Its operating principle is as follows:
Material Feed: Raw materials are uniformly fed into the high-speed rotating drum through a feed pipe.
High-Speed Centrifugal Separation: The centrifugal force generated by the drum causes solid particles to settle along the drum wall, while the liquid forms an inner layer.
Screw Conveying: The screw shaft, rotating at a speed slightly lower than that of the drum, propels solid particles toward the discharge port, achieving solid-liquid separation.
Liquid Discharge: The separated liquid is continuously discharged from the other end of the drum, enabling automated production.
By adjusting the drum speed, screw speed, and discharge gap, efficient separation of materials with varying solid-liquid ratios, viscosities, and particle sizes can be achieved.

Selection and Configuration Guide
To ensure optimal performance of your decanter centrifuge, select the right model based on the material characteristics and production requirements:
Material properties
Solids content, particle size, viscosity, and corrosiveness
Select the appropriate drum material, screw type, and speed range based on the material.
Processing capacity
Calculated based on daily or hourly throughput
It is recommended to reserve a 10%-20% margin to account for material fluctuations.
Automation requirements
Whether PLC control and liquid level/pressure monitoring are required
Configure automatic slag discharge and cleaning procedures
Wear and corrosion resistance requirements
For highly abrasive or corrosive materials, select alloys or linings for protection.
Ensure long-term stable operation of the equipment.
Installation environment
Whether the installation is indoors or outdoors, ambient temperature and humidity, and power supply conditions.
Supporting pumps, piping, and wastewater treatment facilities.

With its advantages of high efficiency, continuous operation, durability and flexibility, decanter centrifuges have become an indispensable core equipment for various industrial separation production lines. Whether it is chemical wastewater treatment, food and beverage production or petroleum and mineral processing, DEGONG decanter centrifuges can provide efficient and reliable solutions to help enterprises reduce costs, increase production capacity and ensure product quality.
