Working principle and structural composition of horizontal screw centrifuge

1. Principle introduction

Horizontal screw centrifuge is a device that realizes continuous solid-liquid separation based on the principle of centrifugal sedimentation. The material is subjected to huge centrifugal force in the high-speed rotating drum. The solid particles settle rapidly because their density is greater than that of the liquid, forming a solid phase layer; at the same time, the clear liquid is thrown to the center area of the drum and discharged through the overflow port to achieve solid-liquid separation.

2. Structural composition

A complete horizontal screw centrifuge is mainly composed of the following core structures:

Drum: One of the core components, in which the material completes the high-speed rotation and separation process, and is often made of corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant materials such as stainless steel and duplex steel;

Screw conveyor: Embedded in the drum, it rotates in the opposite direction to the drum at a certain differential speed, and transports the settled solids axially to the slag discharge port;

Differential gearbox: Adjusting the speed difference between the screw and the drum is the key to affecting the separation dryness and slag discharge capacity;

Drive system (Motor & VFD): Control the speed of the main motor and auxiliary motor through the frequency converter to achieve energy consumption optimization and precise control;

Casing and frame (Frame): Used for support, protection and shock absorption;

Feeding and discharge system (Feeding & Discharge): Designed as pressure type, free flow type and other structures according to customer process requirements.
