The New Era Choice Of Separation Equipment

Overview of the Working Principle of a Decanter Centrifuge

A decanter centrifuge is a device that uses the centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation to separate solids and liquids. Its core operating principle is as follows:

The material to be separated is continuously fed into a high-speed rotating drum through a feed system;

Under the powerful centrifugal force, the solid and liquid phases of varying densities in the material rapidly separate;

Solid particles deposit on the inner wall of the drum, forming a solid phase layer;

A coaxially rotating screw conveyor, at a slight differential speed, propels the solids toward the discharge port in the conical section;

The clarified liquid is discharged through an overflow port, achieving a continuous and stable solid-liquid separation process.

This separation method offers significant advantages, including high processing efficiency, continuous operation, a high degree of automation, and compatibility with a wide range of materials. It is particularly suitable for industrial sites requiring long-term operation and large processing volumes.

Equipment Structure and Technical Highlights

Core Components

Drum System: Constructed from high-strength stainless steel forgings, it ensures structural stability even at high speeds. A tapered section design optimizes the slag discharge path and improves solids dehydration.

Screw Conveyor: Advanced wear-resistant coating technology extends service life. Optional hardfacing alloys or ceramic spray coatings are available for highly abrasive working conditions.

Differential System: A planetary gear or hydraulic differential controls the relative speed of the drum and screw, enabling precise feeding and adapting to materials with varying solids contents.

Frame and Seal Structure: The integrated, heavy-duty structure offers strong shock resistance. The multi-layer sealing system effectively prevents leakage and contamination.

Electrical Control System: Equipped with PLC intelligent control, it enables one-button start and stop, automatic alarms, and remote monitoring, ensuring convenient operation and simple maintenance.

Typical Applications

Decanter centrifuges, with their excellent separation performance and stable operation, are widely used in the following industries:

Municipal and Industrial Sludge Dewatering

In sewage treatment plants and industrial wastewater treatment stations, decanter centrifuges can efficiently process high-moisture, highly viscous sludge, reducing the moisture content to below 60%, significantly reducing the burden of subsequent processing.

Food and Beverage Processing

Used in industries such as juice, vegetable protein, starch, and alcohol, they achieve high-speed clarification and solid-liquid separation without compromising product quality, making them a key clean production equipment in the food industry.

Petrochemical Industry

In processes such as oil sludge treatment, oil-water separation, and catalyst recovery, decanter centrifuges demonstrate their corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance, ensuring continuous and stable operation.

As the trend toward green manufacturing and a circular economy continues to strengthen, decanter centrifuges will play an increasingly important role.
