Wastewater Treatment

The LW series consists of decanter centrifuges designed for continuous use, primarily used for separating solids from liquids, removing moisture, dividing substances into fractions, clarifying, and concentrating materials.

The LW series decanter centrifuges are suitable for a variety of purposes including municipal wastewater treatment, cleaning wash water, urban domestic wastewater treatment, chemical sewage water purification, sewage slurry reduction, and other related sewage treatment industries. These versatile machines have proven to be highly effective in various applications.

The main objective of the horizontal decanter spiral centrifuge is to effectively remove suspended solids from wastewater and mud, resulting in the separation of solid and liquid components and the subsequent recycling of water resources.

As global environmental protection standards continue to rise, modern waste treatment processes and discharge standards are becoming increasingly strict. In turn, the handling of dewatered cakes is becoming more challenging. Our horizontal spiral decanter centrifuges are designed to meet a variety of needs for sewage sludge treatment. We are also able to create a customized wastewater sludge treatment plan based on your specific requirements and offer turnkey project services.

Types of Wastewater

Wastewater is a term used to describe water that contains both solid and liquid contaminants. For instance, organic sludge may be found in municipal wastewater, while industrial wastewater may contain industrial or inorganic sludge.

Optimal wastewater management requires efficient processing of contaminated fluid, a task that demands large-scale generation and high-capacity separation equipment.

The wastewater mentioned earlier is typically comprised of bulk sludge, which is easily separated. However, wastewater from mining and oilfield drilling operations contains finer, suspended solids that call for the use of smaller mesh filtration or higher g-force centrifuges.

According to the merchant, industrial effluent water generally contains oil in addition to solids or sludge. As a result, two separate centrifuges may be necessary to effectively remove both the sludge and oil from the de-sludged water.

Separation Technologies

Filtration is not a viable solution for this particular application of wastewater treatment due to the type and volume of wastewater needing to be treated. Alternative separation technologies such as belts and filter presses have limited applications in wastewater separation, primarily due to concerns regarding labor and equipment reliability, preventing their widespread use in treatment facilities.

Mechanical separation through wastewater centrifugation has numerous benefits when it comes to efficiently processing large volumes of wastewater. However, like any technology, there are also some disadvantages associated with centrifuges, as outlined below.

Separator for Industrial Oily Wastewater

In industrial wastewater, oil is often present along with sludge. Due to this, disposing of this oily water in standard drains is not feasible. However, with the help of a three-phase industrial centrifuge, the oil can be separated from the water, allowing for proper disposal.

This industrial cleaning fluid is designed to effectively separate shop-floor sludge and oil from manufacturing run-off using a liquid-liquid-solid separator. It is a perfect solution for industries looking to efficiently remove these contaminants.

Benefits

Centrifuges stand out from other dewatering and separation technologies because of the many benefits they offer. Let’s take a closer look at some of these advantages.

Reduced Transportation and Disposal Expenses

Centrifuges are capable of producing dry sludge cake, resulting in a reduction of up to 50% in transportation costs and disposal volume. This is due to the fact that dry sludge is significantly more compact than wet sludge.

Equipment Durability and Longevity

Industrial decanters are machines designed for long-term use and are built to withstand heavy-duty processes. The use of Stainless Steel as a construction material ensures excellent resistance to corrosion in even the most corrosive processing applications.

This product boasts advanced protection against erosion in crucial areas, resulting in increased durability. It is not uncommon for these machines to run for multiple decades without requiring replacement or extensive repairs.

Low Operating Expense

Unlike belt and filter presses, centrifuges do not rely on filter media, providing significant benefits for machine users and eliminating labor costs associated with media replacement.

Centrifuges have relatively low operational expenses as they require minimal maintenance. The only occasional replacements needed are for the bearings, which is due to the decanter having fewer moving parts compared to filter presses.

Minimized Operator Requirements

The majority of sludge-thickening and dewatering centrifuges are completely automated. The control systems come equipped with integrated sensors and self-correction capabilities, eliminating the need for manual operator intervention.

Consider utilizing manual service to replace media or perform necessary periodic functions, as mentioned previously.

Compact Size for Processing Capacity

Centrifuges have a relatively small profile in comparison to other dewatering machines. They often take up a fraction of the space that other similar equipment does, making them ideal for confined environments in wastewater treatment facilities.

The compact size of the centrifuge equipment allows for easy transportation and relocation to various worksites, providing convenience and versatility.

Specifications and Sizing

The specifications and sizing of a centrifuge are heavily influenced by the manufacturer and the customer’s capacity throughput needs. Here are specific technical details and sizes for Alfa Laval’s frequently used dewatering separators.
